Is CBD legal?

YES!  Thanks to the 2018 FARM BILL, the production, possession and sale of CBD products is legal in the United States. The Farm Bill distinguished hemp from cannabis, meaning CBD products are not considered drugs unless they contain over 0.03% THC, and can therefore be used and distributed legally.

What are cannabinoids?

Cannabinoids are chemical compounds found in cannabis and produced by the human body. Endocannabinoids, or internally produced cannabinoids, are an essential component of our bodies' endocannabinoid system (ECS), which is largely responsible for maintaining internal balance.

Is CBD a cannabinoid?

CBD is the second-most-abundant cannabinoid found in the cannabis plant. Though non-intoxicating, CBD cannabinoids do exhibit psychoactive effects, but they are often described as calming rather than intoxicating. They contribute to CBD's potential to treat anxiety, chronic pain, and seizures.

Does Jack's Hemp CBD help pets?

While there's no definitive scientific data on using CBD to treat dogs, there's anecdotal evidence from dog owners suggesting it can treat pain, especially neuropathic pain, as well as helping to control seizures, inflammation, cancer, separation anxiety, and allergies.

What is the proper dosage for my pet?

The proper amount of hemp is an art - not a science. Meaning most pet parents will need to play around with the amount of hemp they give your pet until they see the desired effects. With that said, here are some tips and tricks to get you started:

  • For pets under 25 lbs, we recommend 5mg of hemp per day.

  • For pets between 25 and 50 lbs, we recommend 10mg of hemp per day.

  • For pets over 50 lbs, we recommend 15mg of hemp per day.

With that said, every pet is unique and may require less OR more hemp to get the desired effect. If your pet is new to hemp, we recommend starting with half the recommended amount and then increase from there. Your pet may respond well to 50% of the recommended amount. However, if you do not notice a change, you can increase the dose to the full, recommended amount.

As mentioned before, some pets may require more hemp. In that case, it is perfectly acceptable to increase the amount of hemp given. However, you will want to do so slowly over time. For instance, if our 5lb pet is not responding to 5mg of hemp, then we would recommend increasing the amount by 50% the following day. Meaning, the 5lb pet would receive 7.5mg of hemp. You can continue to increase the amount until you see the desired effects.
